Two days.

I’ve been in this house with the two of them for the longest fucking two days in history.

In forty-eight hours, I’ve heard the fights, the slamming doors, the shit breaking throughout the house from being thrown or kicked or who fucking knows.

Today is Thanksgiving and the only thing I’m thankful for is the glass of whiskey that I’m having for dinner. Because neither of them actually planned anything since they usually are invited to a meal with someone in the neighborhood.

Not this year though, because the only people not on a yacht or an island are at Jude’s house. And since Nix and Cheryl were invited, the Westbrooks were not.

A decision that Jude informed me of before I returned home, that I accepted without issue. A decision that my mother refuses to accept at all.

Which is why the current argument is happening. Regina has decided to show up uninvited, stating her reasoning as she belongs in this neighborhood and they don’t. Richard looks ready to strangle her, though he would never get physical.

I wouldn’t want him to, but at this point, I think I’d be prepared to have his back if he wanted to tie her to the staircase banister or lock her in a closet. I’d probably help him.

He’s dressed in a suit, which I found asinine. Apparently the enchiladas he ordered from a food delivery service require formal dining. At the present moment, he’s barricading the door as his wife attempts to remove him from it.

She clearly has no problem with the physical aspect, since she’s currently trying to embed her claws in him as she struggles to move him.

“Regina, we were not invited and we will not intrude. It’s rude and embarrassing.” His teeth are clenched together. “I fucking mean it. Now, stop trying to claw your way out and go drown yourself in a bottle of wine already.”

I’ve never heard Richard speak to anyone this way. He’s calm and collected normally, but this week I’ve seen that vitriol more than once.

I’m not sure what he’s holding out for, but I’m pretty sure he’s going to ask for a divorce soon.

My phone briefly interrupts the chaos taking place, but I quickly ignore the call.

Today alone I have received twenty calls from several different numbers, along with fifty texts. All of which include lude suggestions and even addresses. Despite continuously blocking the numbers, new ones pop up.

The commotion draws my attention back to the scene in front of me.

My psychotic mom attempts to open the door, but he slams it back closed. “I will be attending that dinner, Richard. I’ll tell them you couldn’t make it due to severe stomach issues that have kept you in the bathroom for days.” She’s practically spitting the words out.

All of a sudden, her demeanor completely changes and without a word, she walks away.

Richard removes himself from the door and straightens up as if he’s won this round.

I drain my glass and stand. “Well, come on. We better walk in with her or who knows what damage she will cause.
